Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Approves District’s Financial Recovery Plan
Mt. Healthy City School District is proud to share that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) has officially approved the District’s Financial Recovery Plan (FRP) — a major step forward in Mt. Healthy’s path toward long-term financial stability and eventual release from fiscal emergency status.
“This approval marks a major milestone for Mt. Healthy City Schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Sarah Wilson. “It demonstrates that the District has a clear, data-driven plan to restore fiscal health, strengthen accountability, and ensure that every dollar is directed toward supporting student success.”
The approved plan outlines a multi-year roadmap to balance the budget, reduce costs, and align expenditures with available revenues, while maintaining high-quality educational programs for Mt. Healthy students.
The Financial Recovery Plan was developed collaboratively by District leadership, the Financial Planning and Supervision Commission, and the Mt. Healthy Board of Education, with final approval from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
What This Means for Mt. Healthy
Approval of the FRP signifies that Mt. Healthy City Schools is making measurable progress toward fiscal recovery. While the Financial Planning and Supervision Commission will continue to provide oversight until all fiscal-emergency conditions are resolved, ODEW’s approval confirms that the District has taken meaningful steps toward regaining full local financial control.
“This milestone reflects months of hard work, difficult decisions, and a shared commitment to transparency and responsible stewardship of public funds,” Dr. Wilson said. “We are grateful to our staff, Board of Education, and community for their continued partnership as we move forward together.”
The approved plan will guide future financial decisions and serve as a foundation for continued collaboration with the Commission, ODEW, and community stakeholders.
