We wanted to highlight North Elementary's recent Veterans Day celebration, where the school community came together to honor our heroes in a unique and special way.
The event took place on November 9th, as students and staff prepared to show their gratitude to our veterans. One standout moment during the celebration was the participation of Ms. Jewel Sterwerf’s student teacher at North Elementary, Olivia Locaputo and her brother Mario Locaputo. The trio not only walked proudly in the Veterans Day Parade at North Elementary but also took the time to visit classrooms and engage with students.
As the Veterans walked through the school, students lined both sides of the hallway, waving flags and clapping in appreciation, creating a respectful and heartening atmosphere. The celebration continued in the cafeteria, where 3-4 students from each grade level joined the veterans for breakfast, sharing cards, drawings, and meaningful conversations. The students had prepared thoughtful questions for the veterans, creating fun and meaningful conversations that went beyond the typical Veterans Day festivities.
We extend our deepest thanks to the veterans and North Elementary staff who made this Veterans Day celebration truly special. It was a reminder of the power of community, gratitude, and the importance of honoring those who have served our country.
