Mt. Healthy City Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Terell Davis as the new Athletic Director. With a wealth of experience and a passion for promoting academic and competitive excellence, Davis is poised to lead the athletic department to new heights.
Mr. Davis brings a diverse background to the position, having served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Mt. Healthy High School and Junior High in 2022. His involvement in the community also includes serving as a board member of the YMCA for three years. Davis has an impressive coaching and teaching record, having dedicated six years as the Athletic Director of Fairfield Middle School and ten years as an assistant coach for both basketball and football at Fairfield High School. His coaching tenure has seen remarkable achievements, including back-to-back league championships in basketball in 2021 and 2022, as well as being the Regional Final Runner-up in 2022.
Having graduated from Miami University with a degree in Physical Education, and with a Master's in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education, Mr. Davis possesses the necessary qualifications to excel in his role. Additionally, his extensive experience in teaching and his involvement in building leadership teams and crisis management make him well-suited to create a positive school culture and climate through athletics. He has a clear vision for the athletic department at Mt. Healthy City Schools. He aims to create an atmosphere that fosters academic and competitive excellence while promoting integrity, social responsibility, and community engagement. Terell believes that valuing participation without the stress of winning will contribute to a team culture of high character, discipline, and effective communication, ultimately leading to victories on and off the field.
To enhance the overall athletic experience, he plans to engage and collaborate closely with coaches, staff, and student-athletes. Mr. Davis also aims to build strong relationships and show appreciation for coaching and athletes' achievements, providing the necessary support for their success. Recognizing the importance of academic success, Terell will implement various strategies to promote a balance between sports and academics. As Mt. Healthy City Schools boasts strong community support, Davis intends to involve and engage the community in the athletic programs and initiatives. He plans to encourage team parents to be actively involved with boosters and individual sports. Davis emphasizes the importance of consistent communication, connections, and commitment to building a winning culture.
Acknowledging the diverse needs and interests of student-athletes across different sports, Terell will create an environment that promotes multiple-sport participation. He plans to offer a variety of sports and build programs starting at lower levels to cultivate a strong youth system. Fostering a positive team culture and sportsmanship is a top priority for Davis. He intends to teach and instill the core values of character, commitment, respect, and safety among student-athletes.
