In a display of creativity and ingenuity, students from the Mt. Healthy City School District embarked on an exciting journey through the Design Lab Project. Under the guidance of dedicated architect volunteers, these young minds unleashed their imaginations, resulting in an awe-inspiring showcase of talent and innovation.
The Design Lab Project came alive through students, teachers, and passionate architect volunteers working closely with Mt. Healthy students. At North Elementary, a fifth-grade student confidently presented her ideas alongside her fellow classmates. The audience, which included architect volunteers, professionals, families, and peers, witnessed firsthand the power of collaboration and teamwork in action. With determination, these young visionaries showcased their unique perspectives, inspiring all who were present.
The culmination of the Design Lab Project unfolded at Newport on the Levy, where the second-floor space transformed into an exhibition and award ceremony. Students whose group projects were selected had the honor of showcasing their designs throughout the week. Amidst the celebration, two exceptional students stood out for their outstanding presentations. Asante', a sixth grader, and Alyanna, a fifth grader, were awarded presentation ribbons for their exceptional achievements. Their dedication, poise, and ability to articulate their ideas left a lasting impression on professionals, families, and peers alike.
The Design Lab Project marked a significant milestone for the Mt. Healthy City School District, as it was the first year for any of our schools to participate. Students not only engaged in the design process but also underwent pre and post assessments, expanding their understanding of sustainability and advanced concepts. Guided by architect volunteers, they experienced hands-on learning that fostered cooperation and collaboration, instilling in them the value of working together towards a common goal.
The success of the Design Lab Project would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of the numerous students involved. From design and planning to hands-on building, each student played a vital role in the creation of the sustainability-focused "Gathering Spaces." Their names resonate as a testament to their hard work and passion for making a positive impact on their community.
As the Design Lab Project concludes, the Mt. Healthy City School District celebrates the achievements of its students, who have left an indelible mark on the world of design and innovation. These young minds have proven that when given the opportunity, guidance, and freedom to explore, they can create wonders that transcend expectations. With their creativity and enthusiasm, the future holds limitless possibilities for these budding architects, designers, and thinkers.
