Principal's Message

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
Mt. Healthy City School District,
I want to thank Dr. Reva Cosby, the Mt. Healthy Board of Education, and the amazing staff at Mt. Healthy City School District for the warm welcome that I have received as Superintendent.  The opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Mt. Healthy City School District is incredibly humbling and exciting. I look forward to engaging with staff, students, parents, community members, and alumni.  I want to thank all of the staff, parents, and students that took the time to give us input through our survey.  Our Board of Education and Administrative team are working diligently to create a restart plan which will guide us in welcoming students back to an “as close to normal as possible” classroom experience in August while taking necessary precautionary measures to keep students safe. It is our hope to share our plan with all of you by mid-July.  The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a top priority.

Our district is poised for incredible growth as we continue to meet our objectives of Education Destination.
The theme for our 20/21 school year will be “Growing Together” to celebrate the power of moving together toward a common vision and direction. We will continue “growing together” to accomplish the objectives of Education Destination.
    1.      Ensuring all students are engaged in high-quality and effective instruction within the framework for Formative Instructional Practices (FIP).
    2.     Create a safe and supportive environment for students and teachers with a proactive, consistent implementation of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Practices.
    3.     To identify and meet the evolving and complex needs of our district’s diverse population, to reduce barriers to education, and increase community/parental involvement and support.

We must treat one another with dignity and respect. We all deserve to feel safe and loved. Our message of “growing together” reminds us that we are all a work in process. This growth can only be accomplished when we provide the grace and safety to be vulnerable and allow each other the space for this to occur.  As I continue to meet each of you please feel free to reach out to me through email, a phone call, a text, or schedule a time for us to talk together one on one.

Sincerely,

Dr. Valerie Hawkins

Message from Mr. Buchheim about Remote Learning  4/20/20
Good evening.  This is Mr. Buchheim from Mt. Healthy High School.  Today Governor Dewine officially declared that schools buildings will be closed for the remainder of the school year and that students will stay on remote learning protocols for that time period.  We can now give more details as to next steps for students. Last week, you should have received a letter for each high school student in your household. The letter detailed your child’s progress and expectations.

For students who struggled, it is important to note that they still have the opportunity to lift their 3rd quarter grades.  Students who failed can now earn a passing grade. Students who passed 3rd quarter can lift their grade for each class by one letter.  Students who have excelled will receive online enrichment opportunities so as to prepare for their future. Students who struggle with day to day learning will receive online intervention and teacher support.

Ongoing information will be shared with students through their advisory teachers.  Those teachers will monitor progress and ensure that students have every opportunity to succeed.  Advisory teachers are the same instructors as 5th period. The only exception is the students who were assigned to Study Hall 5th period.  Their new advisory teacher will send a google classroom invite within the next couple of days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 513-728-7658 or at bbuchheim@mthcs.org.

Have a great evening.

Go Owls!
